SpaceX Performs Second High Altitude Test Flight for Starship Prototype

SpaceX is performing a new high-altitude test flight today for the SN9, the new prototype of the Starship rocket. Although the exact start time of the flight is not specified, there is a designated launch window.

SpaceX, which conducts space studies, of which Elon Musk is the CEO, will perform a test flight for the Starship prototype SN9 today. This test will be the second high-altitude test flight of the company's new generation rocket. The time interval in which the launch will take place is quite wide. As the time rockets Turkey opened until 03 o'clock at night has a launch window. It is not possible to predict exactly at what time the rocket will launch. It is not even possible to say that the rocket will be launched with certainty.

SpaceX to conduct second high-altitude test of Starship prototype

SpaceX also does not have a definite stream regarding today's launch. However, if you want to watch it anyway, you can watch the live broadcast from NASA Spaceflight YouTube channel that we shared above.

SpaceX conducted a test flight for the Starship prototype SN8 on December 9, 2020. In this flight, which was carried out without a crew, an altitude of 12.5 km was reached, but the rocket exploded while trying to land. Therefore, it can be said that today's test flight is a retry of the flight that took place on December 9.

The unsuccessful test flights also provide valuable data for use in the company's next rocket. Successful flights, which will be realized with these data, will allow the Starship rocket one step closer to taking off on space missions.
When everything is completed, the 50-meter-long Starship rocket will be able to carry people and cargo to Earth's orbit, the Moon, Mars, and perhaps even beyond. Designed as a hybrid vehicle, Starship can serve as a standalone rocket or as the second stage of the reusable launch system.
